4. Background and General Information - includes material on the need for immunization of residents and health care workers (HCWs), strategies to increase immunization rates, and general information on influenza and pneumococcal disease.

• Influenza vaccination: Materials related to influenza vaccination for residents, health care workers and staff, or both.
• Pneumococcal vaccination: Focus on pneumococcal vaccination of residents. Some of these materials may also apply to health care workers at high risk for complications from pneumococcal infection.
